Military Brat
By
Jane Barcroft
June 2002
Born by the ocean
On a sandy shore
Welcomed to the beat
Of a drum and bugle corps
Soldiers in Uniform
Stripes on their sleeves
Bars on their shoulders
Taking pride in their deeds
Surrounded by love
And the Red White and Blue
A military cadence
To everything we do
Planes in the Sky
Flying out of sight
New orders have come
We ship out tonight
Mama's packing boxes
Daddy's TDY
I'll have to make new friends again
It makes me want to cry
Kindley Air Force Base Bermuda
A tiny piece of beach
I couldn't quite imagine
What was in my reach
I've had an education
You'll never find in schools
I wouldn't trade my gypsy past
It's been quite a useful tool
Even though I'm older
And many years have passed
I still feel good all over
To be called a Military Brat!
